Sandakphu Trek is one of the most rewarding Himalayan treks in India, taking you to Sandakphu (3,636 m), the highest point in West Bengal. The trail passes through beautiful forests, charming mountain villages, and high-altitude ridges along the India–Nepal border, with spectacular views of some of the world’s highest peaks, including Everest, Kanchenjunga, Lhotse, and Makalu on a clear day. The trek is known for its changing landscapes—from dense rhododendron and magnolia forests to open alpine ridges—and the sunrise and sunset views from Sandakphu are particularly stunning. It is a moderate trek, making it a great introduction to Himalayan high-altitude trekking without requiring technical climbing experience.
